Fashion Category | Honourable Mentions 2015

Selecting the best work for the category of Fashion in the YToI2015 has been an hard task and, in the end, the editorial staff has decided to give honourable mentions to three other works that are as fascinating as the first one, made by Alek Pierre.

Roberta Tocco | Italy
Room 707

Room 707 by Roberta Tocco is inspired by cinematography as a mean to talk about fashion. «I take my inspiration from Wong Kar Wai's and Wes Anderson's movies – she said – and wanted to create a fashion editorial with a non-intrusive eye that talks about the loneliness behind the beauty e the richness. The hotel, despite being link to the concept of holiday and recreation, here becomes a sinister place, full of desolation and wait».

Laura Di Legge | Italy
Malinconia

In Malinconia, Laura Di Legge tries to give a context in fashion to the atmosphere that surrounds her images. According to the young artist. «Victor Hugo, the great French writer, wrote that melancholy is the joy of feeling sad, and it could be defined as the desire deep in one’s soul of something one has never had and that is painfully missed. I wanted to represent this special feeling that shows peculiar traits of a personality, through fashion photography».

Francesco Nerone & Annalisa Sirignano | Italy
Chopin: intimate stories (Nocturne op.9 no.1 in B flat minor)

Chopin: intimate stories. (Nocturne op.9 no.1 in B flat minor) by Francesco Nerone & Annalisa Sirignano is instead inspired to the homonymous symphony and brings the atmosphere of the Polish musician into fashion images. As declared by the two authors «Chopin loved the night and its mysteries and his nocturnes are real tracks of real nights, made of whispers, regrets and restlessness. Most of these words remind of a purely feminine grace. There are several different expressions of it in one’s souls (sweet, tender, intimate and dreaming but also violent, cruel and distant). The main characteristic of this work id the surprise: it looks like there is melancholy, but there is also cordiality, it is dramatic and sensual. This nocturne is an expression of real charm».
