There is a way of seeing capable of capturing the essence of reality, transforming the everyday into a universal narrative. This is the beating heart of La Notte della Fotografia, returning for its fifth edition to the historic centre of Piacenza, made possible by the support of numerous partners. Under this year’s theme, Sotto i nostri occhi (Right Before Our Eyes), the festival features a series of free screenings aimed at exploring the nuances of the contemporary world. From climate crises to the most intimate of stories, it provides a platform where photography becomes a vital tool for collective reflection and a necessary witness to our times.

True to tradition, the event unfolds over two intensive days, transforming the city into a sprawling, open-air exhibition space.
Friday, 8th May The official opening will commence at 6:00 pm at Palazzo Ghizzoni Nasalli (12 Via Serafini). The inaugural evening will feature the launch of the magazine 9 di Zero, with this latest issue dedicated to the theme 'Home'. The most anticipated highlight of the evening will be a keynote lecture by our director, Sandro Iovine. A journalist, photography critic, and director of FPschool scuola di fotografia, Iovine will deliver a talk on the seminal book William Eggleston's Guide a milestone in photographic history that redefined the perception of the 'banal' within visual art. This offers a unique opportunity to explore, through Iovine’s expert analysis, the legacy of a photographer who has profoundly influenced the development of contemporary photography. The evening will conclude with a social drinks reception.
Saturday, 9th MayThe afternoon begins at 5:30 pm at the Teatro Manicomics (19 Via Scalabrini) with a public talk, where featured photographers will discuss the genesis of their work. From 9:00 pm until midnight, the festival reaches its crescendo: screenings will run concurrently in a continuous loop across various locations in the historic centre. Accompanied by bespoke soundscapes, these projections create an immersive journey through imagery. Admission to all screenings is free of charge.
