Sony WPA 2015: ecco la shortlist

L'edizione 2015 dei Sony World Photography Awards ha visto la più alta partecipazione dalla prima edizione, ormai otto anni fa, arrivando a contare ben 173.444 immagini provenienti da 171 paesi. Questo equivale a un incremento del 24% rispetto all'edizione 2014. L'elenco completo dei giudici con le relative biografie è disponibile qui.
Esaminando le 13 categorie destinate ai Professionisti, le 10 Open e le 3 Giovani, i giudici hanno sottolineato l'audace approccio dei finalisti nei confronti di argomenti tradizionali e la loro capacità di costruire immagini caratterizzate da grande originalità.
I partecipanti alle categorie Professionisti si contenderanno un premio in denaro di 25.000 dollari e il riconoscimento Iris d'Or/Fotografo dell'anno. Il fotografo insignito del titolo, i vincitori delle categorie Professionisti, i vincitori assoluti delle categorie Giovani e Studenti e il vincitore del titolo Fotografo dell'anno concorso Open (che riceverà un premio di 5.000 dollari) saranno annunciati durante la cerimonia di gala dei Sony World Photography Awards, che si terrà a Londra giovedì 23 aprile 2015. Tutti i vincitori riceveranno un set di apparecchi fotografici digitali di Sony, di ultima generazione.
Le immagini vincitrici e finaliste saranno quindi esposte a Londra, presso la Somerset House, dal 24 aprile al 10 maggio 2015, e pubblicate nell'edizione 2015 del volume dedicato ai Sony World Photography Awards. Le immagini saranno stampate da theprintspace, lo stampatore ufficiale dell'evento. I biglietti possono essere prenotati su www.worldphoto.org/2015exhibition. La mostra comprenderà inoltre una personale delle immagini, dei libri e dei film di Elliott Erwitt, vincitore del premio Outstanding Contribution to Photography Award.
