PHM 2018 Grant

The PHMuseum Grant is an annual initiative that recognises the importance of photography and visual storytelling. In its sixth edition, the initiative is designed to support the production and promotion of visual stories through cash prizes and relevant opportunities across international festivals and online media.

To participate in PHM 2018 Grant, you can submit one or more projects centred around a specific theme, narrative or concept, following these three steps: create an account on phmuseum.com/grant, upload your projects of maximum 20 photos (at least 4 of them must be shot after January 1st, 2015), review and submit it. To present a second project, go back and start a new application.

An international jury comprised of Roger Ballen (Photographer and Artist), Emilia Van Lynden (Unseen Artistic Director), Genevieve Fussell (Senior Photo Editor at The New Yorker), and Monica Allende (Independent Photo Editor and Cultural Producer) will review the submissions of the PHMuseum 2018 Grant open call in March, with winners to be announced in April 2018.

The total cash prizes have been increased to £15,000 (1st Prize/£8,000; 2nd Prize/£3,000; 3rd Prize/£2,000; New Generation Prize/£2,000), while the features of the winners on World Press Photo’s Witness and the projection of all the awarded projects at Just Another Photo Festival (India) have been confirmed for the second year in a row.

The prizes also include an additional projection at leading photography festival Cortona On The Move (Italy), which will further offer a solo show to a project selected by its Artistic Director, Arianna Rinaldo, to be exhibited during the festival’s 2018 edition. The New Generation Prize, awarded to a photographer under 30 years of age, will also include a mentorship program with acclaimed educator Maggie Steber. All the winners, honorable mentions and several selected submissions will also be promoted on PHMuseum's channels along the year. More information are available on the web pages shown below.

deadline: February 21st, 2018
admission fee: £30 per submission | applicants can take advantage of the £20 Early Bird fee if they apply before January 30th
