Celeste Prize 2015

You have until June 30h, 2015 to partecipate in the 7th edition of the Celeste Prize, the international, contemporary arts prize which every year awards cash prizes and rewarding benefits to emerging and mid-career artists. Chief-curator of Celeste Prize 2015 will be Koyo Kouoh, from Cameroon, founding artistic director of Raw Material Company (a center for art, knowledge and society in Dakar) and curator of the education programme at 1:54, Contemporary African Art Fair in London.
The competition is open to any person practicing art, either as a full-time or part-time professional or student, or as a self-taught artist from anywhere in the world. There is no special subject, title or theme required for participating works, and there is no age limit for applicants: the prize is open to all artists whatever their qualifications, with or without experience of public or private exhibitions.
Each work submitted to the prize will be reviewed by a top, international jury of art curators and critics led by Koyo Kouoh. Excellence in content, contemporary aesthetic, technique, and material is sought in the selection of finalist works. In September the jury will announce the 40 finalist works and the 3 finalist projects which will be invited to the final exhibition. Prizes are awarded according to voting by the finalist artists themselves at the final exhibition.
There are exhibition opportunities and 20,000 € cash prizes up for grabs. Cash prizes are broken down as follows: Project Prize, 4,000 €; Painting & Drawing Prize, 4,000 €; Photography & Digital Graphics Prize, 4,000 €; Video & Animation Prize, 4,000 €; Installation, Sculpture & Performance Prize, 4,000 €. Further information on this and the call for entries are available here.
