Even the most remote and less accessible places have direct or indirect traces of human presence, which contribute to define the name

Skeleton Coast: the name is enough to evoke spectral and less than welcoming places. We are on the coast of northern Namibia, between the mouths of the rivers Cunene and Swakop, although the definition often indicates more generally the coastal part of the Namib Desert, which extends to the Orange River.
The name is not at all auspicious in this part of the world if it is earned in the field. Almost inaccessible by sea, because of the currents, and separated from the world from thousands and thousands of kilometres of desert via land, the Skeleton Coast was defined by the Bushmen as The Earth that God created in anger.
Today, to those few that reach it, the Skeleton Coast is basically an expanse of sand and rocks, scattered with animal carcasses and human artifacts that help to convey the appropriate name.
In a landscape that has all the characteristics to be unspoilt, the presence of the human being is still noticeable in absolutely alienating atmospheres, on the borderline between the dreamlike dimension and the supernatural. And it is in that restlessness that you can perhaps find the essence of the place and its contact with humanity.
