Unseen McQueen

For the third exhibition dedicated to the King of cool, La Galerie de l'Instant presents, for the first time in France, never seen before prints from American photographer and Steve McQueen’s friend, Barry Feinstein.
«These 2 fans of motors, whether motorcycles or cars, where hanging together – said Julia Gragnon – in the early 60’s, riding together in the Californian desert, visiting friend’s garages… it made only sense that they would collaborate together sometimes, which finally happened on one of Steve’s most famous motion picture: Bullitt, in 1968. Barry Feinstein captured his friend’s intensity and aura, when the crew was shooting in San Francisco, fighting with guns, running cars or in Jacqueline Bisset’s arms… As always Steve is stunning, with this unique photogeny and elegance that made him a legend».
The exhibition – entitled Unseen McQueen and scheduled at La Galerie de l'Instant in Paris from June 19th to September 16th, 2015 – will offer a series of images portraying Steve McQueen in different situations, inside and outside the set. Most of them are still unreleased, and it's thanks to Barry’s wife‘s work in his archives, after he passed away, if today it's possible to admire them. «For him, only very few pictures might have an interest – added Julia Gragnon – I guess he was much to severe on himself, for what we are showing here will please every fan of the star!»
Unseen McQueen will be inaugurated on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at 7.00 pm.
