Portrait(s), third edition

The city of Vichy sited in Auvergne, in central France, holds the third edition of Portrait(s), an international photography festival focussed on the art of portrait. From June 12th to September 6th all around the streets of the city and in the galleries of the Centre Culturel Valery-Larbaud (20, rue Maréchal Foch, Vichy) are displayed both works by young artists and well-known photographers.
This year the festival offers twelve exhibitions in which the passer-by can observe pics by Alejandro Cartagena, Martin Schoeller, Bruce Wrighton, Richard Pak, Kourtney Roy, Mat Jacob, L’une Et L’autre, Irina Ionesco, Romina Shama, Elliott Erwitt, Yusuf Sevinçli, Ronan Guillou. Many different works are shown off all over the city centre with the aim to involve visitors in a promenade on the value and the evolution of portrait.
Moreover Portrait(s) gave the opportunity to a photographer to be artist in residence during the month of March. This year Yusuf Sevinçli has been chosen in order to portrait the citizens of Vichy in their every-day life, the Turkish photographer has his own exhibition in Place Saint-Louis in which he shows at the same time his attention for human being and for theirs inner feelings.
On occasion of the festival – which sees in the role of Artistic Director Fany Dupechez – it has been organised also a new edition of the contest Flash Expo - Prix photo de la Ville de Vichy, addressed to both amateur and professional photographers. This fifth edition asked participants to explore in a deeper way the possibilities of photographic portrait, and the works selected by a professional jury with the help of a public jury are now displayed in the galleries of the Centre Culturel Valery-Larbaud.
